Good Night, Little Love by Laura Neutzling

Good Night, Little Love is available through pre-order on Amazon, with a release date of Dec. 15, 2016.

This sweet little board book, Good Night, Little Love, was written by Laura Neutzling and illustrated by Anna Currey.  Mother bunny and baby bunny are getting ready for sleepy-time after the sun has gone down.  The illustrations are lovely and sweet as baby bunny puts on pajamas out in the field under a big tree, and mother bunny talks of the day to come and the adventures that will be had.

The back cover says, "Help your child wind down with this imaginative lullaby with whimsical illustrations, and then drift off to sleep reassured of your unconditional love and affection."

While I don't know that I would give that much credit to any book, there is a calming rhythm to the words and a rhyming pattern that children can latch on to.  I had my 10 year old son read it to me, and he only stumbled on "bouquet" and "pajamas" (he said pomegranates, LOL!).  He said he liked it, but that it was too long for a baby book.  I agree - its more toddler-sized. There are 15-20 words per 2-page spread, for 12 pages, so less than 240 words altogether.  The book itself is a standard height, about 8.25" square.  Beautiful cover and sturdy overall, I would recommend this to any family.  I could see it being loved as Goodnight, Moon was when my son was small.

Wisdom is a Woman by Heidi Lee

Wisdom is a Woman Exploring the Wisdom of God by Heidi Lee is worth your time to read.  This is a thorough exploration of wisdom in the Bible, from creation to the women of the Bible, and the Proverbs 31 woman; from human wisdom to God's wisdom;  how to seek wisdom and woman's identity through it all.  "Lady Wisdom" and "Madam Insight" from Proverbs are introduced, and this book helps you discover who they are and why it matters, and how the wisdom of God ought to be part of every woman's life.  One interesting conclusion in the book is "that the female part of God is home to the wisdom of God, the place of deep mysteries and the fount of life." (Loc 818 on Kindle, chapter 5)

Lee starts at the very beginning of creation, going through the fall and the changes that wrought on man and woman.  I loved this quote from chapter 3:
"When gifted with a woman's love, a love so deep that the woman is willing to cede some of her personal power and autonomy to her lover, a wise man will recognize the extreme value of that gift and then reciprocate, giving his love and his life to the woman who loves him. He will not hold on to the power she grants him, but give it back, a gift too precious for him to retain- like keeping the crown jewels in a desk drawer."
But she doesn't stop there.  Lee gives a balanced view of man and woman, not bashing either gender,  but showing truth to benefit both.  She made me think over my own experiences in a new light, held my interest.  This was a more thorough book than I expected, and I truly enjoyed it, highlighting several thoughts in each chapter.  It is full of scripture references and written with a humble spirit.  I would recommend this to other Christians.

"We cannot truly be wise until we work at obedience." (Loc 3518, Kindle)

Wednesday with Words: Working the Plan

I have been very delinquent in postings lately!  Life routines changed and that always throws me off from my personal goals.  In order to reset myself and continue to move forward, I decided I needed help.  Mystie Winckler has some organizational courses (see ad in sidebar!) but I had not tried any of them until recently, beyond the freebies (like the Brain Dump).  When the Work the Plan came out, I decided that now was the time to invest in myself.

Some of my free time for the past 6 weeks or so has been spent going through this course, and I want to share some great words - all credit for them goes to Mystie!  So, my new motto is (as written in my Bullet Journal):

and a quote that struck me:

If your life feels out of control or you just need a kick in the pants to reboot, check out her courses!  (Work the Plan is undergoing some changes and will be re-released at a later time, but the others are available now.)
